The DMV

Actually, the OHP office because I guess you can't get you license at the DMV anymore. I know that going to the DMV or anyplace in regards to ones driver's license is a huge pain but I just had to bring up two happenings in my trip there.

1. Their computers were down, and had been all day. At what point should they have said, "Maybe we should just close up until our computers come back online." , Their computers hadn't been down 20 minutes or even an hour but since 7 a.m.
And the woman who gave me a clipboard to fill out didn't even tell me their computers were down. I had to hear it from the ancient security guard who was helping people after she went on break.  So I waited about 30 minutes to see if their computers would come back up, but no such luck. So I went to Sonic and got a Route 44 Coke!

2. Apparently there is an anti-obscenity law on the books in Oklahoma, (which I vaguely remembered because a number of musical performers have been arrested in Oklahoma for swearing on stage.) I'm not going to get into the ridiculousness of this law overall but the OHP office had it posted by their door and after reading it I was highly offended by the law itself. It stated that it was illegal to use profanity or any lascivious language around women or children under 10 years of age. Okay, not swearing around kids is great and I generally avoid swearing anywhere where children are, but not swearing around women? What the hell? I hope this law is extremely old and dates mack to the times when we women folk generally stayed uneducated, barefoot, and pregnant.
